Terms of Service

Rules for using ResumeGuard, what the service does and does not guarantee, and the obligations of both parties.

Last updated: July 9, 2026

1. Service Description

ResumeGuard is a resume screening service that analyzes uploaded resumes for indicators of fabrication, embellishment, AI-generated content, and inconsistency. The service provides composite and dimension risk scores, detailed evidence flags, interview questions, and downloadable reports to support hiring decisions.

ResumeGuard is a decision-support tool. It is not a background check service, consumer reporting agency (CRA) under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), or employment verification service. ResumeGuard does not produce "consumer reports" as defined under FCRA. Results should not be used as the sole basis for hiring or rejection decisions. Users are responsible for compliance with all applicable employment laws, including FCRA, EEOC guidelines, and local regulations.

2. Acceptable Use

By using ResumeGuard, you agree to:

• Only upload resumes you have the right to screen • Use results as one input in your hiring process, not the sole determinant • Verify concerns raised by the system through direct contact with the candidate • Comply with applicable employment laws in your jurisdiction • Not use the service to discriminate against candidates based on protected characteristics

3. Accounts and Billing

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. The account owner is responsible for billing and API key management.

ResumeGuard offers a free try on the website and pay-as-you-go pricing for production volume via Stripe. Pricing tiers are published at /pricing. You can add or remove a payment method at any time through the dashboard.

4. Accuracy and Limitations

ResumeGuard uses AI models and public web verification to assess resume content. While we strive for accuracy, the service has known limitations:

• Web verification depends on public information availability — many legitimate small companies have limited web presence • AI analysis may produce false positives or false negatives • The system includes signals designed to reduce bias against non-native English speakers, but bias cannot be fully eliminated • Absence of web evidence does not prove fabrication

We provide risk scores and flags as indicators, not conclusions. Professional judgment is always required.

5. Data Handling

We retain screening reports and structured résumé information in your account — not the original uploaded file after processing. Résumé text is sent to enterprise AI inference providers for structured extraction during analysis only. Set automatic deletion or clear history in your dashboard (Data retention), or see our Privacy Policy for full details.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all resumes you upload. ResumeGuard retains ownership of the screening reports, risk scores, and analysis methodology. You are granted a license to use, download, and share reports generated from your uploads for your internal hiring purposes.

7. Limitation of Liability

ResumeGuard is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for hiring decisions made based on our reports, false positives or negatives in screening results, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, use the service for illegal purposes, or attempt to reverse-engineer the screening methodology. You may delete your account at any time by contacting hello@resumeguard.io.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
